Wiveliscombe Community Centre Information

The interior space of the Community Centre is made up of two large halls, a meeting room and a good size kitchen. The halls are easy to style with your own decoration providing a wonderful blank canvas for any type of event, from wedding receptions to birthday parties.

GENERAL

CAPACITY

The Upper and Lower halls currently are limited to 75 people each and the new Meeting Room currently has a limit of 8 people.

HIRING FEES

With the implementation of the new automated booking system we have taken a look at our fees and they are now (as of June 1st 2024) as follows:

  • The booking fee for educational projects and community meetings/groups is £13 per hour, per hall for a single booking and £11 per hour per hall for a regular ongoing booking.
  • For private hire and commercial projects the hire fee is £18 per hour per hall for a single booking and £16 per hour per hall for a regular ongoing booking. 
  • An additional £1 per hour will be charged for commercial/private bookings between 7pm-Midnight when the centre closes.
 

Fees are kept low so that the Centre can remain accessible to all members of the community and to help keep the Centre in good working order.

The centre is hireable between 09:00 and 23:30 Monday to Saturday and you will be given a 30 minute buffer either side of your booking for setting up and clearing away free of charge. For bookings on a Sunday, please use the Booking Query contact form to ascertain availability

BOOKINGS/PAYMENT

A one off booking will be invoiced immediately upon review from the team and full payment will be required before the booking is confirmed. 

Ongoing bookings will be invoiced for all sessions booked and will recieve a monthly invoice detailing payments and any outstanding bookings.

The trustees of the centre will have the final say on whether any requested booking can go ahead.

Charity/voluntary sector users: If your activity provides a service to our local community, which is not provided elsewhere, we are open to negotiating on rates. We are particularly interested in activities for young people and people who may be lonely or isolated.

ACCESS INFORMATION
We regularly welcome visitors with mobility and sensory impairments. The Centre is accessed on level and ramped ground from the front and the back and the upstairs by means of a platform lift

The toilets are on the ground floor and all are unisex, including the disabled person’s toilet.

The centre is accessible via the keypad entry system, you will be issued a unique entry code once your booking has been confirmed. 

CLEANING
Please note that we expect you to clean the Hall(s) and Kitchen after your event so that it is made ready for the next party hiring the Centre. The Community Centre does not employ a cleaner between hires.

SERVING ALCOHOL

There is no license for alcohol. If you are planning to sell alcohol you will need a temporary events notice which can be applied for from the Council Licencing department and must be in
place before the event. You can get advice about this from The Bear Inn 01984 623537 who will be able to help you.

If you are giving alcohol, without charge, to your guests at a private party, you do not need a license. If you are unclear about licensing please contact us via the the contact form

FACILITIES

KITCHEN

PLEASE NOTE: Both kitchens are glass free areas for safety

The kitchen is equipped with a 6-plate electric range with a large oven, mobile plate warmer, a commercial dishwasher, microwave and a stay-on hot water boiler. There are cups and saucers, mugs, side plates, dinner plates and cutlery enough for approximately 60 servings.

The upstairs kitchenette has a small work surface, a plumbed in hot water boiler which needs switching on for each session and there are mugs & plates available, together with a small sink and drainer.

Washing up liquid and cleaning materials are provided, but tea towels, dish cloths and other drinking receptacles (not glass) are not so please bring your own.

If you wish to use the kitchen with either hall booking for tea/coffee making or cooking you need to include this in your booking request.

BABY CHANGING FACILITIES
Baby changing facilities are located on the ground floor in a unisex lavatory.

PARKING
Hirers get the benefit of the car park facilities at the front of the building with space for 6 cars, subject to availability. Further parking may be available in the free public car parks to the rear of the building which can be accessed via Croft Way.

EV Charging Point

There is an EV charging point in the car park to the rear of the centre which is accessible from Croft Way Car Park.

EVENTS

Table Top Sales – to book a table at our regular table top sales please make a request using the form above

Farmers’ Market – a weekly Saturday produce market is held outside the Community Centre from 8am – 12.00pm.

Community Coffee Morning – a weekly Friday morning event for members of the commuity to have a cuppa and a chat 09:30 – 12noon
